The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, established in May 1979 under Decree No. 33, is one of seven Polytechnics created by the Federal Military Government. Located in Gwallameji, 5km from Bauchi town along Dass/Tafawa Balewa road, the Polytechnic was selected in 2020 as one of the 12 TETFund Centres of Excellence (TCoEs) across Nigeria, with a focus on enhancing technical skills and entrepreneurial education. The Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, was chosen as the North-East zone’s beneficiary under this initiative, which aims to drive innovation and skill development in polytechnics and colleges of education across the country.

Our objectives are to build a Center of Excellence in Integrated Farming Systems, fostering training, research, and innovation to advance agricultural productivity, food security, and entrepreneurship in Nigeria and Africa through technology transfer, skill development, and the creation of start-ups.

Partners in the project were selected on the basis of their relevance to the goals of Tetfund Centre of Excellence in Integrated Farming System (TCoEIFS). The major goal of the Centre is to be a Centre of Excellence in solving societal problems and enhance integrated agricultural practice.
The training conducted by the TETFUND Center of Excellence and Integrated Farming System was transformative. I came in with little knowledge of modern farming techniques, but the hands-on sessions and expert guidance made it easy to grasp. Now, I feel confident in implementing these strategies on my farm and expect a significant boost in productivity. This experience has opened my eyes to the potential of integrated farming systems!
